Cisco Catalyst 6509-E chassis switch for distribution or the core of a large network, delivered exactly as it came out of service: eight of its nine slots populated, 240 copper ports and 4 × 10 GbE. It carries TWO WS-SUP720-3B supervisors, that is redundant control, one of the 48-port cards with 802.3af PoE for phones or access points, and the 10 GbE card comes with two 10GBASE-SR transceivers already fitted. It was in service and working when it was removed from the installation, three months ago; its internal label read "Dist-6509" because it was the distribution switch.
Worth knowing: the Catalyst 6500 series with supervisor 720 is a previous generation and Cisco no longer supports it, so it is not suitable where current vendor support is required. It is a good fit for anyone already running a 6500 who needs spares, a second unit or individual cards. It is a large, heavy unit: delivery is within Costa Rica.
